Plastic comprises the bulk of the 14 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean every year, (plastic makes up 80% of all marine debris). Plastic water bottles are not biodegradable. Therefore, to help decrease the amount of plastic waste, we encourage the use of Reusable Water Bottles for our Team and Clients .
Reusable Coffee and Tea Cups
The Superfish Team are required to only use reusable tea/coffee cups. Superfish provide FREE hot drinks to our team, with the use of reusable cups/mugs.
Carpooling
Superfish Team are encouraged to Carpool to work where possible - Our team is encouraged to come to a shift with another team member, ongoing, if suitable and achievable.
Promoting Sustainability in Textile Consumption
ustralia ranks as the second-largest consumer of textiles worldwide on a per capita basis. At Superfish, we actively encourage our Team Members to make a positive impact by donating swimwear and swim gear as part of our commitment to sustainability. Additionally, we promote recycling for uniforms, goggles, and swim gear, aiming to divert these items from ending up in landfills.
Our Facilities
Energy Consumption
We use energy-efficient pumps, heaters and lighting. Electricity, lighting and heaters are turned off outside of operational times.
We Use Pool Covers on ALL Pools
Pool Covers help conserve water and water evaporation and save on chemical use. Pool Covers reduce heat loss by up to 70% and reduce water evaporation by up to 85%. Because less pool heat is lost with a cover, fewer chemicals need to be added to keep the pool clean and at the ideal temperature. Pool Covers drastically reduce the amount of water usage required to maintain pool levels.
We Use Saltwater Chlorination Systems
In most of our pools, we use saltwater chlorination systems, which use salt to generate chlorine, reduce the need for chemical additives and help to reduce harmful chemicals into the environment.
Pool Heating
We have Solar Heating that contributes to the operation of heating systems, saving greenhouse gas emissions. We use energy-efficient pumps and heaters to reduce energy consumption. Additionally, Solar Matting/Heating lowers our Heating Costs.
Filtration Systems
At Superfish Centres, all filtration is on timer systems. We only use it when required to keep our pools clean, allowing our centres to achieve savings on annual energy costs. We also utilise UV systems to reduce the use of chemicals and reduce bacteria.
Swimming Caps
The compulsory use of swimming caps in lessons keeps our pools cleaner, reducing chemical usage. We also do not sell plastic caps, only fabric or long-life silicone caps are for sale.
Limit Paper Usage
Our swim centres have reduced the need for paper by processing information electronically, where possible.
Reusable Swim Nappies
We encourage ALL Baby and Toddler Parents and Carers to purchase Reusable Swim Nappies (available at Superfish Swim Schools) for swim lessons, reducing the volume of disposable swim nappies destined for landfill!
